The Book of Generic Spaces

Hong Kong is Junkspace where architecture assumes a role of a canvas which becames the basis for advertisements. lights, shops and more. That does not mean architecture does not exist. It exists in form of generic space: blank architecture which lacks identity. We see it everyday, it is omni-present and yet noone really notices it. I believe that in a city like Hong Kong, where engneering has achieved wonders, in order to create a succesful Icon it is not enough to challange the existing stadard of building and form that would anyhow disappear within the concrete jungle.

The design which i propose is nothing else but a generic sprawl, that allows the observer to focus his attention onto aspects of the city that I want, primarily the Iconic skyline and the passage that has been previously designed. This approach is a way to create an invisible, faceless frame for the Icon of Hong Kong which already exists - the city itself.
